Why did we shift?
The number of TAD community members are now quite large! It is difficult for us to manage the earlier server. Hence we thought it is best that we move the server to Discord; as it is free and can handle extremely large communities.

One major reason
One major reason is that we simply do not have access to anyone's password. The two step authentication via Discord is effectively like a highly secure OTP (One time use password) system. Though it may be very slightly a cumbersome procedure, it is highly secure for you

Other Reasons
This is also in preparation of going open-source (From version 7.0; TAD would be made open source) There are other interesting reasons alsofor this shift, such as :

• Lot of people are already on this system. So it is easier for them to get into our community
• TAD is now being looked upon by game developers too. They are all there at Discord
• Discord even has audio and video too.
• Discord does not have search limits
• Discord allows you to join any of its “server” (workspaces) using the same login. It is possible that many of the users are already on Discord

Is the earlier TAD Community chat available?
Yes, for those who had registered there, the older Mattermost based chat system would be kept on till October 31, 2020. By that time, we will switch off that server and we hope that everyone would come over to this Discord server

How do we authenticate using Discord?
We have a separate page that explains just that! It is quite easy.

What happens if a user has BOTH the discord access as well as the older Mattermost TAD chat access?
No issues. The user can use either to login into TAD. However, note that the internal ID that TAD creates would be different, so the DRM (Digital Rights Management) that is used for either of them would be different, and so binary TAD files produced using one ID would not open under the other ID. All you need to do is to export the file as ASCII – which removes the DRM
