Group chat
The chat is a new feature that has just been implemented in TAD since version 6.9.0.1 Please give your suggestions.
To use this feature; you would need to coin a group name for yourself and all the friends in that group. Then go to https://tad.in.net/groupchat and register that name. If that name was used previously by someone else, then you would need to choose another one. Our system will provide a password that you need to use for the group chat to work. Store the password in a safe place; and give it to only your trusted friends.
If you think the password may be compromised; the same person who had registered the group name can set a new password for the same group name.
Once that is done; here is what you do next: when you and/or your friends in that group provide both the group name and also password in the group chat dialog; the group chat because activated. Messages written there are easily broadcasted to everyone in the group.
How does one become part of such a group?
Nothing special to be done. Whoever who gets both the group name and the group password become part of the group. So make sure that when you create the group and get the password; you keep the password safe and email it to only those trusted people you know are part of the group. In a future version, we may implement an interface to manage group members.
Video group meeting room
From Version 6.9.0.9 onward, we have also implemented group video meeting rooms which uses the same group credentials!
Message colors
To distinguish chats of people from each other, apart from the name of the user who sent a chat ; there is another feature: Each user can set his/her own group chat color. This is set using the application settings dialog.
Group messages file
Note that group chats are automatically saved in the same folder where the TAD executable resides*. The filename has the form group.grp.txt If you want to clear the earlier messages; just delete such a file.
You can create any number of groups, and easily switch between groups too. Just make sure that the group name is registered for you
*Note for Windows 10 When you install TAD into the Windows default Program Files(x86) location; Windows 10 handles that folder in an unusual manner. When you save a file inside that default installation folder; without telling you – it actually saves files in another location, which is usually here C:\Users\sabuf\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\TAD Designer Lite\bin So the group messages file would be found there; and not really in the program files folder where you had installed TAD.
TAD Group chat is a system wide feature.
That means; they are not connected to any particular TAD file. However if you happen to work on any file in a collaboration mode with others; then all partial-saves of collaborated classes would be notified on this group chat system to whichever was the current group you were chatting with.
If you do not want collaboration notifications being sent to the internal group chat, make sure you do NOT start the Group chat when you work on those files. Collaboration notifications can also be sent via telegram messages, explained in another topic here
