To snap the architect perpendicularly in alignment with the helpers,

1. Move the helpers such that the line created by joining the helpers has a point where you want to place the architect.
2. In the Snaps menu, click Snap to perpendicular foot. Alternatively you can click on Ctrl + F.
3. The architect will travel perpendicularly and rest itself on the point aligned to the two helpers.
